Self Publishing

For over thirty years I worked on a novel and in 2003 submitted three chapters for the first time. The young editor kindly wrote that 699 pages was too long for a first-time author. My dreams were crushed until my cousin suggested I turn it into three books—one for each generation of the family saga.

I submitted chapters of the first book to several publishers and received no encouragement. Again, my dreams were crushed until I heard about e-book publishing at our Ancient City Writers' group. I uploaded the first two books, Molly and Brothers to Kindle Direct Publishing and made a number of sales to friends and friends of family and friends. Then the sales fizzled out.

Self-Publishing has both advantages and disadvantages. It gives the writer much more of the price of sales, but it requires the writer to become a salesperson. So I embark on learning new skills, much harder ones for me, to sell books.

Happy New Year!

We hope you and yours have had a safe and happy holiday season. We are looking forward to a great new year. Starting the new year off right we have added a new page to our website for all of my fans called Q&A From Fans. We hope you will come back often over the next year and see the changes we have added, or blog posts and to keep up with the progress of the Carroll Family Saga. It has been an adventure writing the series and hope to have the third book published soon.

Cheers and thanks for visiting!

Third book in series

Welcome to my new website.  Since this is all new to me, I may not be posting often.  However, I want my readers to know that next year I will be publishing the third and last book in the Carroll Family Saga, Generations.  This book follows the lives of the Carroll grandchildren into the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement.  I hope you enjoy reading this series as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

Welcome Everyone

This is the initial post of the Harry Mann, Author. website. This is a place for his fans to read about upcoming story lines, updates on his latest books, and to get a chance to get to know this wonderful writer. We have created this page for him to keep in contact with his fans.

Writing is hard work but promoting that work is even harder. In today's, fast-paced environment and instant access writers are hard pressed to keep up with the new technology let alone promote their own work. Harry Mann is doing just that. He has written his books, gotten friends and family to help prepare it for self-publication on Amazon.

He has been featured in a blog article about local Northeast Florida Writers and we hope you will subscribe to his blog or bookmark this page. Please share it on your facebook, twitter, and other social media accounts with your friends and family.
